For 2025, we are switching up our fundraising initiatives to benefit four causes close to our hearts.
First, we are proud to announce that will continue our long-standing partnership with Martin House Children’s Hospice, striving to raise £5K towards their incredible work with young people and families with life-limiting illnesses.
For the fourth year running, we will compete in the Leeds Dragon Boat Race for the charity (theme to be announced!). We will also be taking part in the Big Corporate Quiz in March and The Corporate Kickaround in May.
Like last year, we will hold charity bag collections at our head office to donate to their satellite shops.
Elsewhere, our York site has chosen to support York Rescue Boats, an independent charity that provides patrols and emergency response on the River Ouse and River Foss at high-risk times. The mission is to reduce the number of deaths caused by people entering the rivers via prevention and rescue. They also provide a flood rescue service for those cut off when the rivers burst their banks.
Our planned fundraising activities for York Rescue Boats include the Yorkshire Three Peaks and Spartan Sprint 5K. Quite the athletic feats!
We are continuing our partnership with Women Friendly Leeds and the Women’s Night Safe Space bus in Leeds, not only by having staff on hand at the bus, but by partaking in further fundraising to keep the service going.
The Women’s Night Safe Space is a non-judgement safe bus for women and girls to come to or be referred to in the city centre at night if they feel concerned, unsafe, unwell or vulnerable. On July 10, our team will be getting dirty as they face Tough Mudder for the cause.
We are delighted to have a new staff nominated charity for 2025, CDKL5UK. Harry Fletcher, apprentice security engineer, nominated CDKL5UK, saying: “CDKL5 is a rare genetic disorder that results in early onset, seizures, and severe neuro-developmental impairment. It can more often than not result in a person not being able to walk or communicate with others and cortical blindness.
"Last year my niece was born and 3 months into her life she started experiencing aggressive seizures multiple times a day, lots of tests were done over the course of a couple of months and it was drawn to the conclusion that what she has is CDKL5 deficiency disorder. It affects 1 in 60,000 newborns.
"CDKL5 UK is a charity run by parents with children who have been affected by this disorder to provide support for other families who are going through the same things, as well as opening up opportunities for clinical trials. As it’s such a rare condition I feel as though more light should be shed on it.”
We are very grateful for this important and heartfelt nomination and will be taking part in an Inflatable 5k for the cause.
A huge thank you in advance to those who are able to sponsor our staff and contribute to our fundraising for our 2025 charities!
